Compass Points

At Lake Church, our mission is shaped by four core callings—Worship, Community, Discipleship, and Outreach. Each direction anchors us in Scripture and sends us out to love God fully, grow together, equip others, and share the hope of Jesus with the world.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship." Romans 12:1

Romans 12 is a powerful reminder that our response to God's mercy is spiritual worship. This worship begins at the foot of the cross where we offer our bodies as living sacrifices.

Before a song is sung, a prayer offered or a donation given, worship begins with us totally giving ourselves and our will as a sacrifice to God. Our worship, our living sacrifice, involves using our physical and spiritual being to follow and glorify God.
We worship at home by expressing our love to our families through our physical service to them. We worship at work by doing good work and creating an environment of peace. We come together as a congregation to praise God, encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ and to learn more of God's will.

Our every movement is a response to God's mercy and this is our spiritual worship.

"If worship does not change us, it has not been worship. To stand before the Holy One of Eternity is to change. Worship begins in holy expectations, it ends in holy obedience." Richard Foster

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light." I Peter 2:9

The unity of the church derives from our identity as "a chosen people", "a royal priesthood", "a holy nation", and "a people belonging to God".

This holy nation has no physical boundary as the church extends throughout the world. We have no allegiance other than to God Almighty, Our Father as we belong to Him.
We display our unity by realizing we are all equal in Christ. The church is a royal priesthood where we serve each other as we serve God. We focus our love and attention on helping each other live as priests.

Together we live an alternative lifestyle that shows the empty, self-directed culture is a poor choice.

"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." II Timothy 2:2

We insure the continual growth of the church through discipling the next generation of Christians. As Paul entered the last days of his life he challenged Timothy to think two generations into the future.

Like Timothy from Paul, we take the words of God which we have been taught by the generation before us and teach the next generation.
We equip them to the extent that they will go teach the next generation the same word of God. The responsibility must be developed within the hearts of each generation to go and teach the generation that succeeds them.

The touchstone for our discipling must always be the word of God. We must train in the Word so that each of us faithfully and accurately teach others.

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son ad of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20

The world is lost. Many people are unaware of the need of salvation from sin and death.Cultural attitudes and messaging distract from the big questions of life and encourages people to focus on themselves.

Our mission is to teach the Gospel to everyone possible. As a church we must stay equally focused on the congregation's spiritual growth and the proclaiming of the Gospel to the lost.
We are intentional in the execution of our various ministries to seek out and welcome people who are spiritually thirsty to know more about God. We freely give the living water of Christ's teachings through every godly means available.
